I just witnessed the cutest little old lady give the finger to a car today, because they honked at her. I was sitting at a red light directly beside her when I observed the saucy little reply to the unexpected honk (they were rather impatient with her slightly slower reaction to the green light). You would never have imagined that this sweet little lady would give the middle finger ... after all, she was wearing a large floppy bonnet with a flower attached to it.

67th Golden Globe Awards - Best vs Worst

The 67th Golden Globe Awards ceremony was a pleasant surprise this year. Despite the weather, it was considered to be quite the fantastic fashion event. The attendees and their stylists did a great job making this dress rehearsal for the Oscars an unforgetable event. While there were only a few epic fashion “NO-NO”s, most actresses sported classy, elegant gowns. Other than classic black, the main colors worn were cool purples and blues and warm reds and pinks.

Worst-dressed:

1. Jayma Mays, the actress who is known as one of the best dressed cast members of Glee, showed up wearing this Badgley Mischka - Charolette's Web gown. Just a little disappointing.

2. Christina Hendricks of Mad Men, wore a peach/champagne Christian Siriano gown. What is up with this much frills, girlfriend? This gown does not celebrate your curves, and the color is just gastly on you. You look completely washed out.

3. Julianne Moore used to know how to dress to excite a crowd. Tragically, this off-the shoulder Balenciaga gown, was definitly "less" than what we have come to expect from her.

4. Tina Fey as Mary Poppins made the top of our worst-dressed list. Wearing a Zac Posen dress and carrying an umbrella .... Tina what were you thinking? Did you not have a mirror?. Well done, Poppins. (Although we love you in 30 Rock and in character as Sarah Palin!)

5. Chloe Sevigny’s strapless lilac Valentino gown with cascading ruffles was a little too much. Again .... over abundance of frills = no shape required?? The accidental ripping of the dress during the ceremony was actually an improvement.

6. Last but not least, Anna Paquin reminded everyone that a complete look involves much more than a dress! A Goddy, over-the-top Stella McCartney gold sequin gown with clunky, huge, black, inappropriate teen-ager heels ..... Are those the ONLY shoes you could come up with? Where is your stylist? Definitly top of our worst dressed list!

Best-dressed:

7. Emily Blunt, who wore a pink chiffon gown by Dolce & Gabbana. Very flattering to her body shape and elegant at the same time.

8. Zoe Saldana, who chose a deep red Louis Vuitton gown. Finally, we see an appropriate placement and amount of frills. See how she not only has a shape, she has an amazing shape!

9. Julie Bowen, wore a subtly mermaid shaped, Georges Hobeika gown that was glamorous, form fitting and elegant. Very nice, Julie!

10. Courtney Cox, who looked more "Cougar-licious" than ever in a very safe yet flattering Victoria Beckham creation.

11. Jennifer Garner chose an elegant Versace number. Very sleek and flattering. We sould like to have seen a bit more color (this one is a little drab), but very nice overall.

12. Heather Graham, wore a stylish and sleek beaded creation by Elie Saab. She was a knock out in this form fitting flatterer.

A Glimmer of Hope for the Children of Haiti

At Hope Village Haiti - "FreeTheKids.org" hundreds of children are receiving the care and education they need to fight the viscous cycle of poverty.

In this village of hope:

* Over 600 children are receiving shelter and care.

* Over 1,700 children are provided with academic and vocational educations.

* 3,500 meals are prepared and served daily.

And these numbers continue to grow. But here's what makes this mission different from most others. The children are the solution. They are pitching in to help built their own dormitories and schools. They are learning trades such as masonry, carpentry, farming, and agriculture. They are becoming self-sufficient so that as adults, they will be able to care for themselves. And one day, they will be able to care for their own children. Something their own parents were unable to do for them.

The worst possible thing has happened to Haiti

Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas. It is an impoverished country, one of the world's poorest and least developed. Haiti ranks 149th of 182 countries in the United Nations Human Development Index. About 80% of the population were estimated to be living in poverty in 2003 (that's before the 4 devastating hurricanes of 2008 and the unbelievable earthquake of 2010). Most Haitians live on $2 or less per day. This poverty has forced at least 225,000 children in Haiti's cities into slavery, working as unpaid household servants. In 2008, four huge storms struck, one after another in the space of 30 days, Haiti never stood a chance. Nearly 800 people died, about 60% of the country's harvest was destroyed and entire cities were rendered desolate and uninhabitable. Disaster Strikes Haiti Again

On January 12, 2010, at 4:53 pm local time Haiti was struck by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake, the country's most severe earthquake in over 200 years. The epicenter of the quake was just off the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. The focus was about 6 miles (10 km) underground, according to the USGS.

It has been estimated that the death toll could reach 200,000. Widespread damage resulted from the quake, with a majority of buildings collapsing due to poor structural design and construction. The capital city was devastated. The Presidential Palace was badly damaged, with the second floor entirely collapsing onto the first floor; the Haitan Parliament building and the National Cathedral were also destroyed.
